There are many ways to tone your body, lose weight and get in shape! Some of us have a life-time battle with weight loss and exercise, including me! I am the biggest yo-yo dieter and exerciser ever! I heard my Mum talking about Callenetics the other week and she was raving about the class she goes to every Monday, say that it was a great low impact way of toning all the favorite areas like bums and tums!
What is Callenetics?
I live in a rural location so the nearest class to me would be about an hour away and to be honest I just could not be bothered! So I went online and did a bit of research!
This is a really unique form of exercising that was really big back in the 80′s and 90′s, with the revolution of Yoga and Pilates it was not so popular, but it has come back into the light with the help of celebrities such as Madonna! The exercise is based on doing small localised movements and concentrating on certain parts of the body at any one time thus allowing those muscles the opportunity to tone to the highest level. The nice thing about this type of exercise is it is low impact and you don’t get puffed. You will feel really relaxed and pleasantly tired after the work-out.
This method involves intense deep muscle work, you won’t experience the jumping and bouncing that you would in other high-impact exercises like aerobics or jogging.
What is the effect?
So to test it out I bought a DVD so I could do it from home in the evenings. You can build yourself up to complete the required number of repititions in any set, it can take a bit of time at the start. One hour of these exercises can have a huge effect and can be the equivelent to a few hours at an aerobics class!
People who practice this form of exercise do so safely and virtually injury free! You will feel effects the first time you do the exercises and you will see an effect after the first two sessions! You can’t get better than that! All that’s needed is dedication and commitment!
Can I do these exercises?
Anybody who is anybody can do theses exercises. Its perfect for people who even feel they are uncoordinated and helps them to gain some level of control over their bodies! The Callenetics founder is Callan Pinckney, and she is quoted to have said that “Every person who has done the Exercise method, regardless of their age or body condition, and who has the determination to have a strong fit and beautiful body, now has it!”
I think the nice thing about this form of exercise is it’s accessibility and availability to all ages, sizes, and people!
